Nicole D. Peeler does not have any cats, kids, or husbands. Instead, she vexes literature in her new role as an assistant professor of English Literature at Louisiana State University in Shreveport. Although she's excited to call Louisiana "home," she has previously set up shop in her native Illinois, Boston, Spain and Scotland. Nicole is ashamed of her dreadful potty mouth and fervently wishes that she were taller.

Twenty-something Jane True knew that she didn’t really fit in with everybody else. Like most residents of Maine, her fellow citizens of Rockabill appreciated the Atlantic Ocean for all it provided for them, but none were too big on it when it came to taking a dip. And even the hardier sorts would have stopped short of going for a plunge in the surf, every night.
Jane's heritage enabled her to enjoy her mid-winter midnight swims, most of all. Not that the majority of her fellow citizens knew. After all, New Englanders have a rich tradition when it comes to dealing with beings perceived to be supernatural, a tradition considerably less pleasant than lobster rolls or fresh blueberry pie in August.
But as TEMPEST RISING gets under way Jane, along with her fellow citizens, discover they have considerably more to deal with along the supernatural line. Her world is suddenly filling up with lovely, though terribly dangerous beings; and there is one who would very much like be her new friend – one who is gorgeous, but also a vampire – and that's just the start.
